Are Corriente saddles any good?
I have been using Corriente Saddles for 8 years now and I never had any issues! These saddles are very versatile and can be thrown on any horse’s back without fitting poorly. They hold you in place very well, especially when going around a barrel turn. The saddles are insanely durable and hold their value.

It’s easy to measure a western saddle’s seat size. Use a retractable tape measure. Start the tape measure behind the swell and stretch it across the seat to the front of the cantle. That measurement is the seat size.

What size saddle do I need for a 16 hand horse?
Under 16.5 inches — You probably need a 15-inch seat size in an English saddle. Between 16.5 and 18.5 inches — Look for a 16-inch saddle. Between 20 and 21.5 inches — Try a 17-inch saddle. Over 21.5 inches — Try an 18- or 19-inch seat size.
Is a Barrel saddle good for trail riding?

It does have advantages when roping because of the wood post horn and the thinner gullet, but riding a Wade doesn’t mean your saddle will fit your horse better, or even any differently than any other fork style. And it doesn’t mean that you will automatically be a better rider either.

Check on the back, the skirts or on a plate underneath the jockey. Contact the saddle’s manufacturer for information about the saddle’s age. Most manufacturers will be able to tell you the age of the saddle using the serial number. Go online and research the saddle manufacturer in conjunction with your serial number.

YES. However, Rough Out Leather is still just like any other leather and requires cleaning, oiling, and conditioning.
How do you soften a stiff saddle?
Rub some saddle soap, mink oil, shaving cream, coconut oil, or neatsfoot oil on your shoes with a clean towel to soften them. You should let the shoe soak in the oil for a few minutes.
